I Lost My Tooth! – A Cute and Educational Read Aloud about Teeth

I Lost My Tooth!

About this Story

"Hilarious, Relatable, Imaginative."

So, imagine losing your tooth—no big deal, right? Wrong. In I Lost My Tooth! by Mo Willems, bedtime bliss turns to full-blown panic when that tiny pearl goes MIA. Did the family dog wolf it down? Is it hiding in little sis’s evil grin? Or (worst fear) did it vanish into the mysterious bathroom drain abyss?

Of course, in true Mo Willems fashion, things spiral in the most ridiculous way possible. The drawings are pure comic gold—think giant, bugged-out eyes and a hamster sidekick who may or may not be a tooth thief. Just when you think all hope is lost… boom! The tooth shows up where you’d least expect (nope, won’t spoil it). And the cherry on top? A glitter-bombed “official” note from the Tooth Fairy that’ll make every kid side-eye their own pillow stash.

Why’s it a must-read? Willem nails the kid-brain freakout (“IT’S GONE FOREVER!”), then turns it into a giggle-fest. The words are simple enough for new readers, but the jokes punch way above their weight. (P.S. If your kid loves this one, Jon Klassen’s I Want My Hat Back has the same brand of dry-but-dumb funny.)
